We'd like to invite you to begin your journey with the University of Cumbria at our Applicant Visit Day event.

This is a fantastic opportunity to further investigate your course choice through hands-on interactive sessions with our academics, whilst also exploring the highlights and best bits of the town or city you will be studying in. There'll be opportunities to speak to our support services and chat to many students currently studying at the University of Cumbria. We look forward to seeing you there!

How to get here

The postcode for satnavs is CA3 9BJ.

Leave the M6 at junction 44 and join the A689 signposted Hexham. At the next roundabout take the last exit (B264) and follow the road into town (Brampton Road). Continue for two miles until housing gives way to railed parkland. The main entrance is on the right.

Free parking is available on campus. Our friendly staff will be on hand to direct you to our car parks.

Carlisle is on the main west coast rail line from London to Glasgow and also has a direct, cross-country connection to Newcastle. Carlisle railway station is about a 25 minute walk from campus. Taxis are readily available outside the railway station.

Walking directions from the train station

Head left towards English St, crossing the road north into Scotch St (town centre). Walk ten minutes down Scotch St towards Civic Centre building. Take steps down towards Hardwicke Circus underpass. Continue north, past the fountain feature. At the top of the stairs, turn right and right again, travelling towards Eden Bridge.  Pass the Chinese Gardens, walking straight onto Brampton Road.

Walk ten minutes until you reach a set of traffic lights. The campus is on your left.

Bus 76 from the Market Hall in the town centre is the most frequent bus service and stops on Stanwix Bank/Scotland Road about 400m from campus. The Stagecoach 179 stops on Brampton Road.
