Life in the undergrowth – Biodiversity in your back yard

One of the most important skills that a good zoologist can develop is the ability to identify the weird and wonderful animals that we have on this planet. Using a comprehensive toolkit of skills that we will help you develop, you will work out how to distinguish between some of the more unusual animals that we find in the UK across a range of different habitat and groups.

During this masterclass, you will receive a short overview of some of our important wildlife. You will be provided with a toolkit for the practical identification of some of our more unusual species, (including the insects and arachnids) and you will be instructed on the use of a range of different techniques such as microscopy, trapping and others.

Masterclass award

You will be awarded 16 UCAS points** for attending this masterclass.

** NB. The reduction will be applied on application. Points cannot be redeemed retrospectively if you have already applied to the university; they can only be redeemed against University of Cumbria courses linked to the masterclass.
