The crucial time for organisations to re-invent and/or adapt is now given the uncertain outlook of markets. Competitive advantage is seen as a predicator for survival and given the market dynamics, there is a call for action on a sustainable operational outlook. The common understanding of the term is associated with green production. However, when managers are required to consider sustainability issues throughout the entire business process, from product design to end of life and from the supply chain to final customers, these may prove to be more daunting.
