Social mobility has stagnated in many areas as inequality has risen, especially in Carlisle. Come and explore why and what can be done.

Social mobility has stagnated in many areas as inequality has risen. The gap between the rich and poor has widened significantly in the last decades and this has reduced opportunities for those with less. This is particularly the case in Carlisle with the third worst social mobility in the UK.

This interactive workshop will include an overview of social mobility and equality issues by Dr Wanda Wyporska, unpack the local Carlisle context, and invite you to explore what might be done to make a difference.

This session is run by the University of Cumbria and Carlisle One World Centre in partnership with the Equality Trust.
